DRT400 DVD Recorder with TiVo by Humax

I love TiVo. Not only do I love TiVo, but I also love DVDs. So when Humax released its DRT400 DVD recorder with TiVo, I wanted to take a look at it. The recording process on the Humax unit is standard TiVo-fare: simple to use and easy to program, whether it is one episode of a show or an entire Season Pass. When burning the shows you've TiVo'd, each blank DVD can hold up to the equivalent of about two hours of programming recorded at standard quality, and the programs burn flawlessly and quickly, too. The menu for accessing the DVD is just as simple as the menu for watching recorded shows and is easy to use, even in other DVD players. One of the more unique features of this unit is its ability to record video (live or previously taped) from a digital camcorder, with easily accessible composite video plugs in the front of the player. The Humax unit only records to DVD-R and DVD-RWs, so make sure that you don't buy DVD+R(W)s in bulk before getting the TiVo. MSRP for the 40-hour unit is $399, and MSRP for the 80-hour unit is $499, before rebates. Activation costs $12.95 per month or a lifetime fee of $299. www.humaxusa.com
