Systems Designer: CSI Automation & Design, Scottsdale, AZ
These homeowners wanted a formal living room, while also being able to view television when they weren't entertaining. With this challenge in mind, Eric Hulstedt, president of CSI Automation & Design Inc., of Scottsdale, AZ, recommended building out the front of the fireplace to house a motorized lift and a 50-inch high-definition plasma TV.
In keeping with the formal décor, CSI also designed an equipment niche that was hidden behind a piece of hinged artwork. Pioneer speakers were added to the plasma monitor, and the system is controlled by an RTI remote for easy operation. CSI provided electronic drawings so the builder could construct both the fireplace and equipment location.
When the homeowners entertain, the room acts as a formal living room with the fireplace as the focal point, and when they are home alone, they can enjoy this room and watch TV. Now this is truly a multi-purpose room.

FOCUS: CSI chose the Lift-Tech LT-200-C lift to ensure that the plasma would rise far enough up and away from the heat of the fireplace when it was turned on. Early planning and working with the builder made this concept a reality.
